Battlefield: Bad Company is a first person shooter developed by DICE. It's a very well rounded game. The voice acting in the cut scenes are really crisp and the expressions on the characters faces tell a lot about their personality. The graphics are a bit grainy at times, but the destructibility of the environments evens the scale. The enemy AI seem to act like drunk high- school drop outs. This is due to the fact that they don't take cover and standout in the open to try to shoot you. But the sheer number of weapons and classes and environmental destruction opportunities out- weigh all the bad.
Campaign:
Bad Company's campaign is a very well put together piece of work. It features nine missions and each mission is very long. Each one of the missions have several objectives inside them. There are four members in your squad, but the others don't help much. At times it seems like you are pulling all of the weight. Your squad members may kill an enemy here and there, but it doesn't make a difference except for the comic relief they provide. The highlights of the campaign in Bad Company are vehicles and destructible environment. There are many vehicles in the game, buggy's, tanks, boats, jeeps, humvee's, golf carts, and helicopters. Thanks to the Frostbite engine DICE used, you can destroy environments. Buildings can just be standing on their support beams and trees obliterated. In games like Call of Duty: World at War and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 health regenerates after a while, but not in Bad Company. You have to inject yourself in the chest with what looks like adrenaline. Sometimes in firefights all your doing is injecting your self, and you can even get an Achievement for injecting yourself a certain amount of times. The campaign falls short due to the lack of co-op play. It would be really nice to play with a friend, but I guess we'll have to wait for Bad Company 2 for that.
Online Multiplayer:
The online element of Bad Company is very addictive. In online you get to choose your own class [Recon (Sniper), Demolition (Shotgun), etc.]. With a total player count of 24 per map its a huge battle. There are two modes Gold Rush and Conquest. In Gold Rush you must either defend or attack the gold crates, depending on which team you are on (Attackers or Defenders).
Conquest is a game mode similar to Star Wars Battlefront (capturing the command post). It would have been nice to see online modes like death match, fugitive, capture the flag and numerous others. The maps in Bad Company are very big and detailed, with an assortment of vehicles and buildings. All of this creates a very addictive online multiplayer.
Battlefield: Bad Company is one of the best games ever. A solid campaign and over- the- top online multiplayer earn it this status. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes first person shooters.
